Cute ‘em up
Cute ‘em up is a schmup game where you play as a cute test subject who escapes from a laboratory. You have to use the weapon you stole to shoot your way through waves of defensive drones and turrets that try to stop you. The game has colorful graphics, catchy music, and challenging gameplay. The final boss is a mutant version of your creator who wants to capture you and use you for more experiments.
My contributions
This was our third game on The Game Assembly where we used an in-house engine provided by TGA
My main focus of this project was to create a way for us to easily initialize cutscenes in-engine with a video player that could play mp4 videos.
It took a lot longer than anticipated because the video player we were provided within the in-house engine was broken so much work went into learning how it works and fixing it. Another feature I did was a way for us to have paralaxing backgrounds in-game to simulate more depth in a 2D game.
